Theo Ubique began producing in 1997, first at the Heartland Studio Theatre, and then in 2004, at Michael James’s No Exit Café, where it began focusing on musicals and revues, reigniting the cabaret theatre trend in Chicago. Since then, Theo Ubique has produced more than 40 shows and received more than 35 Jeff Awards (including four in 2014) and three “After Dark Awards” (for “Chess,” see below).

Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre’s production of Chess captures three awards in the first annual Theatre Fans’ Choice Awards sponsored by BroadwayWorld Chicago.

Chess is one of 13 shows coming out on top in the contest and one of only three shows garnering three awards.  Ragtime at Drury Lane Oak Brook is the only show winning more than three with four awards.

Theo Ubique won for Best Revival of a Musical with Brenda Didier winning Best Choreography and Jeremy Trager winning Best Actor in a Musical or Revue in the role of Anatoly.  Theo Ubique was in the running in several categories for Chess and Man of La Mancha.
